The Summer of 35MM Film
I cannot express enough how much getting back into 35mm film has expanded my consciousness and creative side. After quite a few years away from it (mostly due to excuses), I decided it was time to start experimenting again.
The photographs below are from various rolls of 35mm film including: Revlog Kolor (that is the first photo here, vibrant color gradients), Dubble Film Jelly (pastel color gradients), Lomography Metropolis (melow-tone), Psychedelic Blues and LomoChrome Purple.
Not all of these moments are perfect, or happy mistakes. I definitely learned how to work with these film types more. Especially with the Revelog Kolor, if it is not perfectly sunny then it is best to overexpose a little bit (or push the film a stop when developing). The Lomography Metropolis is great for moody overcast days. Dubble Film Jelly is such a perfect pastel rainbow!
LomoChrome Purple! I feel like I am finally starting to grasp what it takes to make a balanced composition with this film. A little bit of sky, water, and green foliage from the landscape is a more distinct composition. I think it is important to have contrasting color values with this film, otherwise everything just blends together and it is not very interesting to look at. I especially love the teal color of the sky it has on sunny days.
