Beltane | Women’s Global Event

History was made today. I’m not saying that because I want to, I am saying that because it is true. Seeing the amount of new faces at the Beltane Women’s Global Event held at the historic Katherine Legge Memorial (“KLM”) Park gave me goosebumps.

KLM has not seen a sanctioned tournament on its grounds since it was built in 2012 and I have all the reason to believe they accepted our proposal was because the park was “built in honor of Katherine Legge shortly after her death in 1924 by her husband and was used as a retreat for rest, recreation and welfare for women.”

On top of playing the first sanctioned tournament on these hollowed grounds, this was a Women’s Global Event (“WGE”). The WGE is a bi-annual event where women around the world are able to play against each other based on the PDGA ratings system. The foundation of this event was built around wanting to grow the number of female players in disc golf.

I can personally tell you that disc golf has grown substantially since I started playing in 2004. To see over 50 women at BELTANE alone was amazing.

I want to thank Amy Laskowski (Birdie Babes) and Sheila Callahan (Dellwood Disc Golf) for running such a great event. Your hard work does not go unnoticed and you are both great role models for our sport. Also, thank you to my PATRONS for your continued support.
