CLASH AT THE CANYONS VIII SATURDAY

Clash at The Canyons VIII is here! We look forward to this tournament all year and we couldn’t have asked for better weather on Saturday. 279 players competed in this sold-out event hosted by Dellwood Disc Golf.

I always love taking pictures at The Canyons. The light was so beautiful on Saturday and it made for some very interesting compositions. Part of my thought process when composing images, is composing for light - and balancing contrast. It can be a challenge figuring out how that light will work with your subject but today felt different than other days and I just tried to capture a lot of those moments that just sparked that gut feeling of moments that needed to be captured.

The weather was incredible early in the morning. There was almost no heat, and the trees looked like they were glistening. I forgot how much the light really reflects off the canyon walls this early. It was glowing.

Hole 16 is always a fun hole to photograph. The morning light just hits the space different. As the sun comes up over the horizon it has this sharp contrasting light that makes it so interesting for shadows. And it illuminates the fairway perfectly.

Around high noon hole 5 is one of my favorite places to capture from the bridge. I love the way the landscape looks with the sun directly overhead. I especially love capturing the gravel landscape below from the bridge.

Tournament Central is always a vibe in the early afternoon on tournament days. I really enjoy watching everyone get in the zone with some positive vibes.

This is Ryan Fancher.

Ed Schenkenfelder has been spotting on hole 6A forever for the Clash. He is wearing the shirt from the very first Clash at The Canyons, from 8 years ago given to him by Steve Rachan.

I love these little pine trees on the hill.
