FRACTION RUN CUP 5

Today is a special day because it is Dellwood Disc Golf’s 6th anniversary!

It was also challenging in so many ways, but mostly because we weathered the storm. Or rather, they (all the tournament staff) weathered the storm just to make the course playable for Fraction Run 5.

We were hit with a massive wall of wind and rain the night before, with tornados in some areas too. The Joliet and Lockport area specifically had so many trees down and debris. Hole 13 was a sight to see because one of the biggest guardian trees is now gone.

While it is April Fools, this is not a joke. We have photos as proof and it’s a reminder that nothing is permanent here.

This season is what makes this event so special though because spring is usually pretty gnarly here. If you don’t know, Fraction Run is the name of the creek that winds through the course. For this event all of the holes that line the creek are utilized, making it a one-of-a-kind Canyons experience… that will definitely change your score.

Below are some photos from Saturday’s coverage and here is the link to the gallery.

PHOTO RECAP

I was feeling extra experimental today. I used my prism, globe and a CD to make some interesting images today. The prism and CD is something that I would lean towards more on a sunny day. But I thought, why not try it out on a cloudy day?

Doing things out of the norm are what can lead us towards breaking barriers.

While that did allow me to see a little differently (mostly softer rainbows) and muted tones. It was an exercise of the mind because creativity is a muscle and it needs to be exercised.

Tomorrow I have a different plan in mind. I want to make a shot list. This is not something I normally do for a tournament, I think it will help me to focus more and there are some things I did not capture today. It’s not that these things need to be captured either, it is really more of a way for me to see things differently.
