GJTS TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR TEAM CHALLENGE

A match play team challenge presented by Dellwood Disc Golf as part of the Greater Joliet Tour Series. The best part about this tournament is that it is a fundraiser event for course improvements in the Greater Joliet area.

No matter what team wins here, everyone wins because it’s for a greater cause. This year the tournament directors (4) agreed on planting memorial trees at Highland Park Disc Golf Course in honor of our local disc golf legends who have passed.

Leading up to this tournament, the tournament directors did not see who would be matched up to play each other (Sheila Callahan put the cards together). That’s what made this moment so exciting to witness the player's and TD's seeing the matchups for the first time.

There were a total of four teams playing, Black (Team Captain: Thor Batchelor), Orange (Mike Apostolu), Red (Ryan Fancher) and Green (Sean Callahan). They played against eachother in a match-play format, in seeded divisions: uppers, lowers, women, 40+, 50+, etc.

Truckin Delicious was onsight serving everyone delicious tacos, because it was Cinco de Mayo and lunch was covered by the GJTS as part of the players pack.

The best part about these events is seeing everyone enjoy their time together just hanging out. Like right here in the Everyday Coffee Co. tent.

If there is ever one person that would win the spirit award at every event, it’s Devin Hernandez. He was on Team Green and after coming in 4th he said “Hey Lauren everyone wins because i’m on Team Disc Golf Chicago!” Wearing the shirt of course.

This picture below is one of my favorites from the day, I just really like the light here and the birds eye view with the wide angle. Trinity Links really glows in the spring time.

Looking at hole 1 from 18's basket is so stunning in this light. I love the reflections in the water too. Both of those elements made me want to capture this moment.

One day later… it was discovered by Sheila that there was a scoring error and it wasn’t team black that won (in a playoff), because team orange actually won by two points. Team Red came in 3rd and Green was 4th.

Congratulations Team Orange!

Thank you Dellwood Disc Golf for hosting such a memorable event! Its one of our favorite tournaments of the year.
