2021 The Year in Pictures

2021 was amazing!!! So much happened this year. I loved witnessing all of the live podcast tapings with Unstable Discourse, the remarkable finish at Clash at The Canyons, the fans at Ledgestone (they were so inspirational! But seriously who gets a crockpot signed by all the pros?! This one guy did). The Chicago Exposition and the live studio taping of Paul McBeth on Unstable Discourse at the ETA in Chicago. Chris Brenholtz’s dioramas, if you haven’t seen them yet, you must! The making of JJ Callahan PDGA #182076. The local disc golf scene growing exponentially and a little thing called The Dellys.

2021, I had no expectations for you but this was amazing. I hope you enjoy all of this year’s galleries below. My New Year’s Resolution for 2022… try something different! With that I am excited to announce I will be working with more film (HELLO Lomography PURPLE film, I can’t wait to show everyone just how purple their aura’s are) and a drone!

Let’s rewind now…

Unstable Discourse at Werk Force Brewing

This was the very first field trip for Unstable Discourse, to Werk Force Brewing in Plainfield, IL. Documenting it was such a treat! As someone that loves NPR, podcasts, disc golf and storytelling capturing these moments live really hit the heart for me.

Fraction Run 3 at Dellwood Park

The Spring opener event! This tournament has stuck with me all year because The Canyons course looks gorgeous in this light and with these colors. I love all of the different tones of tan and brown with the dark water in Fraction Run, and of course the contrast of the shadow that were hanging around all day. It’s breathtaking.

The Dog Bowl at Old Oak Country Club

Disc Golf at a country club is always fun. But when it’s for the dog’s its even better. Over $5,000 dollars was raised at this event, and dozens upon dozens of items from dog food to cat litter were donated to the Will County Humane Society.

Beltane | A Women’s Global Event

Beltane - Historically this means the beginning of Summer. This event was held on the historic grounds of Katherine Legge Memorial Park in Hinsdale, IL. It was also a Women’s Global Event. The field was stacked with women that were new to disc golf and veterans as well.

The Manville Monster in West Chicago

West Chicago is one of my favorite local courses to photograph because it is so vastly open with elevation. It is the perfect course for silhouettes and sunsets. I loved seeing this tournament here and it being one of the windiest days of the year made it even more exciting.

Greater Joliet Tour Series

I love everything about this picture. In the moment it really felt like history was being made here. These four team captains: Leo Borowski, Sean Callahan, Ryan Fancher and Thor Blancaflor, were all competing against each other. It was a match-play team event where members of each team were chosen in a draft prior to the event start date. The purpose of the event was to fund a course project and each Team Captain had different projects to support. In the end, Leo Borowski’s team won and all the funds went to restoring the Highland Park course.

Clash at The Canyons V

4th of July weekend at Dellwood, the doesn’t get any better than this. Watching Dan Schlitter win MPO was one of the greatest finishes I have seen in all my years as a disc golf photographer.
