35MM LOMOCHROME PURPLE FILM

I just want to take a moment to take all of this in, it has been over six years since I shot a roll of film. Receiving these film scans back from Indie Film Lab was a real treat! I only had a few minor heart palpitations when I received the email saying my film scans were ready.

The lookbook above and photos below were all captured with 35MM Lomochrome Purple XR 100-400 film. This type of film has been on my radar for a very long time because of its unique color, grain and tone. I love all the subtle details and inconsistencies that came through in this roll.

Technically speaking, the Lomochrome Purple film has an ISO range of 100-400. I shot these at ISO 200 and over-exposed majority of the frames by 1/2 to 1 full stop. When I sent them into Indie Film lab for scanning and developing, I ordered their normal developing (meaning I did not have them push the film - to over or under expose it.). In my opinion, they could not have turned out more perfect! I will definitely be ordering from Indie Film Lab again, and highly recommend them.

For me, this roll is especially unique because it was shot in the winter with plenty of snow on the ground. Once the seasons change I will certainly try this out again because leafy greens and blue skies are going to have a totally different look than white on white (snow with gray skies).

“LomoChrome Purple film lets you explore the color spectrum like never before – Blue becomes green, green becomes purple and yellow becomes pink! Red tones stay red though, which keeps skin tones looking natural in a sea of trippy hues” (Lomography).

The frames below were captured at Dellwood Disc Golf on January 2, 2022.
